Shri Narsingh Prayers and Aarti.श्री नरसिन्ह By Pratibha Jani

Lord Narsingh श्री नरसिन्ह is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is supposed to have taken this form to save his devotee Bhakta Prahlaad(a young boy) and to teach a lesson to the evil demon Hiranyakashyapu. In short The story goes to say that The Lord  took the form “Narsingh Avataar ” which means half Lion, Half man.

The demon had a boon that he would not be killed by a man, or a beast, in morning or at night, and such many other criteria  which  made him almost impossible to be killed. Due to this boon he had grown stronger and when the atrocities of this demon became unbearable the Lord took the form of half man, half lion, during the sunset time and killed the demon in mid air on his thighs, with his nails.  Thus protecting his devotee Prahlaad from being burnt on the fire pillar and also keeping the boon in tact.

Shri Narsingh  Jayanti falls on the day before full moon in the month of Vaishakha (April/May) and the prayers are typically done at the time of sunset. This year it falls on May 23rd, 2013.

It is very difficult to find too many prayers and shlokas for Lord Narsingh. I have gathered some shlokas, prayers, chants, stuti and Aarti over the years and am Presenting them here to any one interested.

The shlokas are narrated slowly so beginners and children can follow along. Enjoy, share, and Like if useful.

Until Next time, Pratibha
